Ottawa-based synth explorer, producer extraordinaire, and versatile vocalist Lady Charles has revisited “Flower Boy” a retro ode from their retired band Sparklesaurus. They produced the original “Flower Boy” with close friend Fliss (AKA: Felicity DeCarle) who composed and concocted the dreamy lyrics.

The music video brings us Lady Charles serenading us with their soft and soothing voice in an open field of—you guessed it!—flowers. Reds, pinks, oranges and yellows bloom all around as a delicate breeze carries the melody brought to us by the multi-talented artist. They wanted to take the ’70s influences already in the song and multiply them. They successfully drive home the soundscapes’ transient atmosphere with their bold jacket and distinctive guitars (one of which looks like a violin!) in the music video.

“I find there’s a dark sensuality to “Flower Boy” that recalls poppies or devil’s trumpet—beautiful yet dangerous,” says Lady Charles. “I kept those plants in the back of my head while working on the arrangement and I think the dark, distant synths really grew from that floral undertone.”

“Flower Boy” is out now on YouTube and Spotify.
