Violentene have produced a hyper-local visualizer for their new, danceable single “Break the Silence,” which takes a trippy tour through the nighttime streets of the ByWard Market and the Glebe.
The song is reminiscent of 80s New Wave—members Roland M. and MvriJo cite major acts like the Cocteau Twins, Human League and Depeche Mode as influences for the synth-driven sound. The synthpop sound is complemented by MvriJo’s dreamy vocals.
Not surprisingly, the dark, flickering music video, which takes a shaky camera down Ottawa’s main nightlife streets, is a perfect match for a song with an ethereal chorus of “Breaking me/Breaking the silence/Aching, aching in silence/Breaking me/Breaking the silence/Killing me as I’m chasing the silence.”
The 80s vibes are strong on this one!
