Now that we’re done with enough April showers to bring us May flowers… and June… and July… get out there and see all the great events taking place this weekend across the city!
TACTICS presents Shorelines, written by local Ottawa artist and award-winning playwright Mishka Lavigne, from May 2 to 13 at LabO. A story about climate change, climate inequities, friendship, and family, Shorelines is a play where memories of the past and the urgency of the present collide.
Ottawa’s own Cirquonscient is putting on an aerials-centric circus at LabO followed by an 18+ evening event in Arts Court.
Colin Noden: “Arthur Bampot and the Case of the Kept Man is a full assault on reason. Or… an enthusiastic defense of it. On stage with Detective Arthur Bampot, chaos reigns in a way which seems quite logical to him and his cast.”
Colin Noden: “whY! allows us to explore the question through amazing original music performances, poetry performance, skits, and dancing puppets being bell-chased by Aunty (I’m not sure that part was in the script).”
Amanda Dookie: “In his act, Michael described how his disability affects his day-to-day life, by shedding light on certain common situations that disabled people find themselves in that may be less than desirable, such as travelling and attending events at venues that are not wheelchair accessible.”
Esmée Colbourne: “The Youth Infringement Festival put on a witty piece of theatre that is good for all ages! If you are looking for an easy laugh, or love card games, Snap! is the show for you.”
Burnt was a great first-night experience and warm-up. Consider adding it to your list as it provides a light-hearted experience and would be an entertaining addition to any Fringe schedule. Fun and fast-paced, it will keep you amused and guessing up to the final reveal.
Barb Popel: “What an interesting play! That’s what my guest and I agreed upon after we saw the world premiere of Jacob Berkowitz’s new play, The Anniversary.”
Jennifer Cavanagh: “These three are comics are undoubtedly talented, with a strong dynamic between them and very funny on their own but not all the bits land as they should”
Livia Belcea: “Although the subject matter of the play makes it difficult to watch, the play itself is excellent.”
Brian Carroll: “Every year I hope there will be a really good family show at the Ottawa Fringe. This year my prayers have been answered.”
Samara Caplan & Laura Gauthier: “Even if you’ve never been to camp, go to this one!”
Nicholas McBurney: “It’s worth squeezing this short show into your schedule.”
