Video of the Week: Canada’s Capital City 1938 vintage film

You thought drone footage of empty Ottawa was cool… how about a view of downtown shot 80 odd years ago from a shaky pre-WWII aircraft?

It may not be new, but it’s new to us. We came across this delightful, vintage film on the r/ottawa subreddit and thought it warranted a Video of the Week pick here on Apartment613.

Don’t know if you can call this a “video,” given it was shot and edited on film in 1938, but we know you’ll enjoy watching the Canadian Government Motion Picture Bureau (a precursor to the National Film Board) take a crack at promoting Canada’s capital city. Copyright MCMXXXVIII.
