Neat Coffee Shop

It was a sweltering summer night in Burnstown as Wintersleep played their second sold-out show at the always wonderful and intimate venue, Neat Coffee Shop.

In February, during the Ottawa Ice Dragonboat Festival concert series at The Rainbow, I got to check out a band I had never heard of before—Brother Elsey, out of Detroit. I was immediately impressed by their performance, particularly the depth and breadth of their songwriting. So when I heard they were coming to Neat Coffee Shop in Burnstown, I jumped at the chance to see them again, this time armed with a better appreciation of their music catalogue, which has been in steady rotation for me for the last few months.

Tokyo Police Club is playing Neat Coffee House tonight—and guitarist Josh Hooks has a special connection to the region.

While the Friday night Bronson Centre Music Theatre show has received most of the publicity as the “last Ottawa show,” those willing to make the drive out to Neat Coffee Shop in Burnstown on Sunday will get to see the band in an intimate venue, much closer to their 2007 roots.

Wintersleep is playing Neat Coffee Shop on Saturday and Sunday, November 2–3.

We’re inching our way towards winter, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had in the city.
