Gowan

The Prime Rib Big Band 3rd Anniversary Show

Ottawa’s Prime Rib Big Band, who play the first Wednesday of every month, are celebrating three years at Irene’s. Led by trumpet phenom Ed Lister, the band’s horn section is a who’s who of Ottawa jazz heavyweights, including Zakari Frantz (The Souljazz Orchestra) and Juno Award nominee Petr Cancura (The Mighty Popo, Kathleen Edwards). The super kitchen staff at Irene’s are running a prime rib dinner special.

Saturday, March 7

The Lumineers w/sg Mt. Joy, J.S. Ondara

Sounds of the Midwest make their way to the Canadian Tire Centre. The Denver band took off at the beginning of 2012, with the release of their biggest hit to date, “Ho Hey.” This led to their self-titled debut album going 4x platinum in Canada, and the follow-up album Cleopatra going 2x platinum. Since then, the group has added members, headlined some of the biggest festivals in North America, and has upped their game when it comes to live performances. It’s been since 2017 that The Lumineers made their way to Ottawa, and look to bring the sounds of their latest album III to the forefront on their return.

The penultimate concert in Angela Hewitt’s epic four-year Bach Odyssey series. The Ottawa-born classical pianist is widely considered to be one of the world’s pre-eminent Bach interpreters.

Blackberry Smoke

While the Georgia band has been around for 20 years, Blackberry Smoke hit their stride in terms of mainstream mentions in 2015. Blending a mix of southern rock and country, the group is rarely defined by its own boundaries. With three straight albums in the top tens of charting in both the rock, indie, and country charts in the U.S., Blackberry Smoke continue to gain steam. Catch them at the Bronson Centre.
