The spooky season is now behind us, and while November can be a bit of a drab month, this year it’s ALL about live music. Browsing our live music calendar, you’ll find something for every taste, in every size of venue. Keep checking the site for more previews and interviews with artists.
This weekend one of our favourite venues, Neat Coffee Shop, will be hosting Nova Scotia indie rock veterans Wintersleep for both Saturday and Sunday. The Juno Award winners have been at it for 15 years now, and produced a remarkable catalog in that time.
We had a chance to chat with Paul Murphy (read the interview here) before their last show at the Bronson Centre Music Theatre last March, as they were about to launch their seventh album, The Land Of. Now that the album has been out for half a year, fans will get a chance to see the band perform these, and their many other familiar songs, on a more intimate stage, which should make these songs resonate even more. Standout tracks on the new album include “Beneficiary”, “Into The Shape Of Your Heart” and “Never Let You Go”.
Beyond that, Wintersleep has also just released another pair of songs, “Free Fall” and “Fading Out” to add to the set.
Throw in their hits and you have the makings of a playlist able to bounce between introspective to singalongs, and create everlasting memories for those in attendance. The thought of “Weighty Ghost” on the Neat stage seems like a perfect match to the venue’s ambiance, and should not be missed.
Wintersleep will be at Neat Coffee Shop Saturday November 2nd and Sunday November 3rd. Only a handful of tickets remain for the Sunday show, so get them here before they are gone ($70 each).
