Inspired by visits to the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa-born composer Nick Schofield’s new album Glass Gallery is recorded entirely on a Prophet-600 vintage synthesizer, re-amplified and re-recorded in Ottawa’s Mackay United Church (reverb central!).
In advance of that release, Schofield has shared two singles—both recent features on Apt613’s #ottmusic weekly playlist—including “Ambient Architect” which is paired with this beautiful new music video directed by Christopher Honeywell, full of light and abstract visuals.
“Ambient Architect” draws its inspiration from a Paul Klee painting on display at the time Schofield made several visits for research at the National Gallery. “If you listen closely, I hope the reverence I have for these paintings comes through the music,” says Schofield.
