Whether your long weekend was an end-of-summer blur, or a relaxing last hurrah at the cottage, the shortened work week means that another weekend is already upon us. This is a great chance to try something new, or spend the weekend outdoors patio sitting and taking in some fun local outdoor live events.
Six politically- and socially-charged plays are being presented on the GCTC’s main stage in the Irving Greenberg Theatre Centre.
Remixed is a festival celebrating local culture in the Somerset West area. On September 16 they’ll be closing Somerset between Bay and Percy to provide a day’s worth of free activities.
It may be one of the rainiest summers we’ve had in a while, but don’t let that stop you from getting out and enjoying all the activities this weekend! Summer favourites like the light show at Parliament Hill are back, it’s the final weekend of Bluesfest, and Canada Scene has shows aplenty! Enjoy!

Tonight, it’s all indie, all the time with Palm Trees, Android 16 and Randy Shenanigans at Avant Garde, while bands compete for big bucks down at Ritual. Adam Baldwin takes his guitar skills down to Zaphod’s, while […]
Quick — how many paintings are there in the image above? At first glance you may see four, or is it five, if you include the canvas that encompasses the four “inner” works of art? Look closer, however, and you will realize that the number is higher still, as there are paintings within paintings, where […]
Quebec artist Karine Giboulo is a master of producing miniature figures that portray evocative scenes. From powerful commentary on the production of electronic products from China, to work that has been described as a three-dimensional comic book, Giboulo uses miniature figures to produce thought-provoking work. Her latest exhibit Democracy Village, which is taking place at […]
Anna Frlan’s current exhibit at the Ottawa School of Art is the best show that I have seen by a local artist. Comprising five steel sculptures, the exhibit Interbellum at the schools’ main gallery at 35 George Street is simply brilliant. An Ottawa-native whose parents came to Canada from Croatia following World War II, Frlan […]
Imagine you have a pen pal that you never met, but instead of exchanging letters you only communicate via photographs sent through the mail. What images would you send? How would you respond? What interpretation would you give to the photos that you did receive? These intriguing questions lie at the heart of Shoot Back, a photographic exhibition […]
