Do It for the Grain Zine has just launched a call for submissions to its four-year anniversary photography exhibition. The deadline to submit your work is February 20, 2023, and submissions are open to analog photographers of all levels of experience from Ottawa, eastern Ontario, and western Quebec, but excluding Montréal or Toronto. (You can view a map of their catchment area here.)

The theme of the exhibition is Home. Submissions could include representations of personal/intimate spaces, a street, neighbourhood, city, country, or landscape; a place of work, studio, or classroom. Beyond the geography, maybe you find a sense of Home in the objects you collect, display, or keep in a shoebox, books, journals, or letters. Perhaps you find Home in yourself, in your emotions, feelings, or memories: in friends, family (biological or found), or partners. For some, Home can be ever-changing, elusive, confining, or isolating; for others, intimate, cozy, comforting, and safe. However interpreted, Home is complex and intricate, yet it is something we can all relate to and reflect upon. DIFTG invites you to be introspective and provide a photographic answer to the question: “What does Home mean to you?”

The exhibition will take place at  Happy Goat Coffee Co., 317 Wilbrod St., in late March, with a vernissage on Friday, March 24, from 7–10pm.

As well, DIFTG is accepting submissions for their regular bi-monthly photo zine. The next issue will be released in late February; there is no theme. The form and details are at https://doitforthegrain.ca/submissions/.
