Our own Sacha K.W. did a more in-depth interview with Steve Adamyk — lead singer of the Steve Adamyk Band — a couple of months ago right before the band’s Ottawa Explosion performance. He talks about their latest album Third, released this past February on Dirtnap Records, the sounds of punk and possibly touring Japan this winter. For those that don’t know the Steve Adamyk Band, here’s a bit of a primer.
How would you describe your sound?
A louder version of the skinny-tie bands of the early 80’s. Catchy power-pop, with a punk edge.
When did the band start?
Our first live show was early 2010, just after our first two vinyl singles were released.
What are you hoping from your first Bluesfest performance?
That we get to come back! And having a few extra daytime beers.
Boxers or briefs?
Briefs. The nineties are over!
Katacombs by the Steve Adamyk Band will give you a good idea of the sweaty good times ahead at Bluesfest.
