Bluesfest 2013 was an amazing venue for fashion inspiration in the city. It was scorching hot outside, with lots of scorching hot people. Better late than never, check out our belated Bluesfest Street Style File!

LisaZ Occupation: Therapist and co-founder of Couch Assassin

Shirt: Smoove (New Zealand)

Skirt: Jacob

Shoes: Clark’s (dancing and hooping all day require comfy shoes)

Style inspiration: My style is dictated by cut and colour. Dresses are the easiest piece of clothing because they are most forgiving of fluctuating body shape and are an outfit on their own. I own lots of well-cut, solid colour dresses. In this case, I dressed to match the hoop which makes it more costume-y and more fun. I guess I dress kind of like a mullet. Business on the feet, party on top.

Veronique Name: Véronique

Occupation: Lady of Leisure

Dress: Chiang Mai, Thailand

Fan: Chinatown

Sandals: Birkenstock

Inspiration: I call this look “Hippie chic”, and I was inspired by my need for breezy comfort and proper arch support on what was a ridiculously hot summer day at Bluesfest.

Michele Name: Michele Ferland

Occupation: Social Service Worker/Outreach Worker for a Community Health Centre in Ottawa.

Dress: (20$) at a store that she thinks is still part of the Eaton’s Centre in Toronto

Tutu: vintage from Adorit Boutique,

Necklace: made with vegetable dyed coconut shells from Adorit Boutique

Chain necklace: Heavens to Betsy

Bandana: dollar store purchase

Sandals: were purchased for $5 many years ago.

Inspiration: I have some curves, and so I found that wearing things that are similar to 1950’s style is really good for me… it took a long time to realize that curves can be really beautiful, and exaggerating them can be a fun way to feel better about them… for some reason. I really like Joanie from Mad Men.
