Allow me to introduce you to Nonprofit Band, the musical group who have reinvented rock ‘n roll music.

How could they have possibly done this? Easy. There’s no electric guitar to be found in their work. Instead, they employ a violin, plugged into an amplifier, and utilize pedal effects to add different textures to the music.

Nonprofit Band, founded by international violinist Michael Greilsammer, has gone beyond the sonic to redefine rock ‘n roll music. Whereas this genre generally summons the idea of the prototypical ‘sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll’ lifestyle, Nonprofit Band actively promotes social responsibility and community. Their fans are able to become part owners of the music and they have full access to their library. They’re passionate about spreading the message of social awareness, particularly in terms of encouraging vegetarian and vegan ways of life.

To celebrate the recording of their first self-titled album, they are embarking on an international tour to share their music and advocate social participation. The album was recorded live in Nice, France, and the band took special care to emulate the classic rock sound of the ‘70s. To achieve this, they mastered the music on an Otari Mx-5050 to give it that gritty, not-quite-polished sound that bands like Led Zeppelin are renowned for. Have a look:
