Happy Capital Pride Ottawa! There are plenty of cool events happening this weekend (and beyond!) to celebrate pride in the capital, plus a bunch of great music and theatre shows all weekend long.

All Weekend

Capital Pride kicks off August 16 with events happening through to August 24. For the full list of Capital Pride events, check out their website.

Celebrate the city’s craft beer scene with Ottawa Craft Beer Week. Pick up your passport at one of 16 participating breweries, collect stamps, enter to win prizes, and support local! Learn more about this year’s event and activities here. Cheers!

Odyssey Theatre returns to Strathcona Park this August for its 39th season with a new play written by the company’s founding artistic director, Laurie Steven. Learn more about The Girl With No Hands in our review here.

Broadway Across Canada’s Hamilton is back for an extended two week run from August 5-17 at the National Arts Centre. Check out our review here.

Thursday

Enjoy Movies in the Park this Thursday at Lansdowne with a free showing of The Wild Robot.

This Thursday is Pitch Perfect Night at the ball stadium. Enjoy pre-game music before the Ottawa Titans take on the Florence Y’alls.

Friday

There’s a 90’s dance party at SAW Centre.

Capital Pop-Up Cinema and Westboro Village present Stand By Me, a free outdoor movie showing at the lot beside the Churchill Seniors Centre.

Celebrate Oscar Peterson’s 100th birthday with a jazz-filled evening at his statue on Elgin Street.

Take part in a public archaeological dig at Leamy Lake Park with the National Capital Commission. Check out the NCC’s website for more details.

The Canadian Film Institute is celebrating their 90th birthday this month with a special presentation of Sane Inside Insanity – The Phenomenon of Rocky Horror, at the ByTowne. Tickets are available online here.

Saturday

Check out a free pilates class at Lansdowne’s Great Lawn at 10am or yoga at the Tavern at the Gallery (ticket required) from 9-10am.

613flea returns to Lansdowne for an outdoor market with 150 vendors between 10am-4pm.

There’ll be free live music at the Rockcliffe Flying Club from 6-9pm.

The Ottawa BlackJacks have made the Playoffs! Check out the Eastern Conference Semi-Final at Slush Puppie Arena in Gatineau at 1pm Saturday.

Over 60 2SLGBTQIA+ small business vendors will be at the Pride Market organized by Little Jo Berry’s at the Parkdale Market from 5-9pm.

More than 15 Hintonburg businesses will be participating in a sidewalk sale from 10am-4pm.

The Grande Finale of this year’s Les Grands Feux begins at 6pm at the Canadian Museum of History with the fireworks show happening at 9:15pm.

Sunday

Join Capital Pop-Up Cinema, Capital Pride, Beechwood Cemetery, and the National Film Board for an evening dedicated to queer history, love, and resistance with a walking tour and free outdoor movie night at the Beechwood Cemetery. Check out the Facebook event for more info.

Salsa Sundays happen every Sunday in the ByWard Market from 3-5pm, while Zumba on the Hill takes place every Sunday at 4pm at Parliament Hill.

Enjoy a picnic on the grounds of the Billings Estate National Historic Site this Sunday from 1-4pm. Advance registration to secure your picnic meal is required.
