When you’re making your weekend list, be sure to check it twice! Holiday events are in full swing, including the Help Santa Toy Parade on Saturday. If you’re watching any holiday movies, keep an eye out for familiar Ottawa locations in town and from the surrounding areas. This helpful map from the Ottawa Film Office shows 2023 made-in-Ottawa movies (fingers crossed they put out a list for 2024!).

Fear not those who aren’t into the holiday cheer. There are some neat events and activities happening this weekend that might be more your style!

All Weekend

The Glebe Neighbourhood Activities Group presents the 45th annual Glebe Craft and Artisan Fair this weekend. More than 50 local vendors and free admission!

Robert Plante Greenhouses is hosting their second annual Holiday Market with gifts, crafts, and festive treats. The indoor event is pet-friendly.

Champions of Magic bring their humour and magic to the National Arts Centre this weekend. Tickets are available online.

Looking for a good meal? L’Outaouais au menu offers the chance to enjoy a three course prix fixe menu at a number of local Quebec restaurants. The promotion ends this Saturday so book your table now!

One World Bazaar continues this weekend in Manotick.

Celebrate the 2024 Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival at their launch event on Nov. 15⁠. Digi60 Filmmaker’ Festival is a professional development fest for new and emerging filmmakers in Ottawa and runs Dec. 6-8.

Craft your own dreamcatcher in a workshop at the National Arts Centre this Friday, led by Indigenous artist and educator Ashley Clark.

Ottawa Chamberfest presents Beethoven’s Ninth on Friday at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre.

The Help Santa Toy Parade is back for the 55th year! Donations support Ottawa’s Toy Mountain which gives toys to local families that might not otherwise have gifts at Christmas. You can donate unwrapped toys to any Ottawa fire station, make a donation online, or bring your unwrapped toy to donate at the parade. The route starts by City Hall at the corner of Elgin Street and Laurier Avenue West, heads west to Bank Street, then turns south along Bank Street to end at Lansdowne Park.

613flea is always a great place to find local treats and crafts. Saturday from 10am-4pm at Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne.

Get ready for the holiday season with Santa’s grand arrival at St. Laurent mall!

The Ottawa Mystic Market is the place for those looking for something odd or metaphysical.

Tomoni / Go Together is a Japanese Community Variety Show hosted by Ottawa’s Japanese cultural performance community. Tickets to the show Saturday night are free but you can register online to secure your spot.

Crave Food and Wine Festival takes place at the Rogers Centre this Saturday. And in case you missed it, the Shaw Centre is now called the Rogers Centre.

Practically Petty is a tribute to Tom Petty happening at the Rideau Carleton Casino.

Capital Rainbow Refuge is a registered non-profit organization founded in 2010 to support and sponsor LGBTQI+ refugees. This Saturday, you can support their work by attending the Freedom Soirée at the Canadian Museum of History.

The Orleans United Church is also hosting its 2024 Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9am to 2pm at 1111 Orleans Blvd.

Sunday

Get started on your holiday shopping at at the HoliYay Craft Market at the National Arts Centre. Admission is free and runs 11am-5pm.

Alternative group FEATURETTE (Lexie Jay, Jon Fedorsen, & Marc Koecher) will perform at Live on Elgin! Tickets found here.
