After one of the mildest winters we’ve seen in a while, it’s time to spring ahead this weekend. This weekend is packed with activities so read on for some highlights. And don’t forget that clocks spring ahead an hour when daylight time begins Sunday March 10 at 2am!
All Weekend
The 26th annual Youth Infringement Festival takes place March 6-17 at Arts Court Theatre. The festival is “an open access performing arts festival for Ottawa youth ages 16 to 25 to develop and produce original work.” Check out the schedule for this year here and learn more about the festival in our post here.
Fans of Agatha Christie won’t want to miss Murder on the Orient Express at the Ottawa Little Theatre. Shows run February 28-March 16, Wednesdays to Saturdays at 7:30pm with a Sunday matinee.
Steel Magnolias ends its run at The Gladstone Theatre March 9. Hear from director Gabriella Gadsby on her vision for this piece here.
Head to Arts Court for the spring edition of Pique. The arts and music festival will have more than 15 artists across 7 stages and exhibition spaces.

Seth Meyers, known for his time with Saturday Night Live and as the host of Late Night with Seth Meyers, takes to the stage of the National Arts Centre’s Babs Asper Theatre this Friday at 7pm. Tickets are available online.

OperOttawa is honouring Canadian women leaders throughout history with a new requiem by Composer-in-Residence, Jack Hui Litster. Performed by a chamber orchestra of 13 musicians and a women’s choir of 17 singers, OperOttawa presents the world premiere of “Gates of Heaven: Requiem for a Life of Peace” on March 10, at 2:30pm at the First Baptist Church. There are few better ways to end your weekend than a trip to a local sugar shack. Check out Ottawa’s urban sugar shack in Vanier or one of the many excellent sugar shacks in the region including Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm, Fulton’s Sugar Bush and Maple Shop, the Log Farm, Proulx Farm, and Parc Omega.
