Until Nov. 4 you can eat and drink to your heart’s content at the Orleans Cork & Fork Festival. This upscale event will bring wineries, distilleries, ciders, craft beer and delicious cuisine all under one roof. Enjoy great live entertainment and exciting interactive demonstrations.
The Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) and the Ottawa Guild of Potters (OGP) are pleased to co-present Capital Creates: Contemporary Ceramics Inspired by Place, a ceramics exhibition in celebration of the OGP’s 50th anniversary. The exhibition can be seen free of charge in the Alma Duncan Salon at OAG, at 50 Mackenzie King Bridge, from Nov. 2 to 12, 2023. The opening reception takes place on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 5-7pm.
From Nov. 4 to 7 you can take part in the national interactive and engaging Red Phone at the NAC. Part theatre and part social intervention, Red Phone is an audience-to-audience performance that utilizes the intimacy of a phone call and the technology of a teleprompter. It’s a conversation you won’t soon forget!
Until Nov. 11 you can catch Love from a Stranger, based on Agatha Christie’s short story, Philomel Cottage, and play, The Stranger, at the Ottawa Little Theatre.

From Nov. 2 to 5 Wall Candy presents the 2023 NOIR festival, with an opening night gala and fundraiser event in support of the Queensway Carleton Hospital, continuing for three days of fine art exhibitions showcasing 55 professional artists. This year’s theme is “Day of the Dead”, and festival programming is being curated in collaboration with the Mexican Embassy, as well as Ottawa’s ByWard Market Day of the Dead festival.

The second edition of Funny Begins at 50 at Yuk Yuk’s Ottawa (1394 Richmond Rd.) includes a lineup of 50-plus comedians, who will share over two-and-a-half centuries of life experience. Come and listen to your elders!
Ottawa StoryTellers presents Stories of Samhain: An Irish Storytelling Event. In this show, Irish Canadian storytellers Niamh O’Brien and Erica O’Reilly will take us to Ireland and the season of Samhain, the time of frost and firelight. The event takes place in the Blackbox Studio at Arts Court starting at 7:30pm.

Logan Staats & Trevor Alguire Concert Fundraiser to Stop Ford’s Kemptville Prison takes place at Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre. It’s headlined by Logan Staats, the multi-award-winning Mohawk singer-songwriter and Indigenous rights advocate, which you may recognize as a past winner of CTV’s The Launch. He plays along with Trevor Alguire, a local favourite!
Sam Weber plays Red Bird Live with a new collection of songs. Canadian-born but now living in Los Angeles, his new album is influenced by that journey of starting in a new place, the struggles and ultimately a rebirth into a new chapter.

Algonquin College is hosting an Open House from 10am to 2pm in the Marketplace Food Court and Student Commons Building. You can meet with professors and current students; ask questions about programs, support services and student life; tour the college, residence and Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC); speak with representatives from the Perth, Pembroke and online campuses; and apply to a program at the application station. Every program and college service will have representatives on-site to answer questions. Some programs are offering information sessions, lab tours and/or demonstrations. JazzWorks’ Vocal Open Mic is back at GigSpace (953 Gladstone Ave.) from 1pm to 3:30pm. Steve Boudreau, educator and accompanist, will amp up your performance with constructive feedback on style, key, tempo and performance tips. These open mics encourage vocalists to hone their style and skills with a professional coach and learn to sing with live accompaniment. Entrance is pay-what-you-can and there is a limit of 14 spots, so come early.
It’s time to get creative and a little bit silly at Nepean Museum with You Can’t Do That at the Museum! that’s inspired by the classic CJOH-TV show You Can’t Do That On Television, which got its start in Nepean. Kids ages 6 to 9 are invited to the MakerStudio to explore the world of visual effects, Foley artists, costume design and, of course, slime!
