Consider this a bit of payback for our t-shirt contest from last year. Nick Charney and Chris Pointer have come together to create Bureaucratees – a set of satirical t-shirts aimed at the city’s public servants. They’ve combined some of the sayings, puns and funny realities of government employment and some creative design treatments to create a fun set of t-shirts.
“Sometimes you’ve got to be able to make fun of yourself and own your stereotypes, we figured what better way to do that than wear it proudly on your chest?” said Nick Charney.
For example, many of you might not realize that there are people working in the government who draft emails for others. A Daft Punk/ draft email combination plays tribute to this thankless task.
“The design was inspired by countless hours of listening to Daft Punk while grinding through the work day,” said Charney. “The music is so full of energy that it’s a nice counter balance to some of what the work office types have to do, like drafting email. We thought the mash-up worked perfectly, loved the irony, and wanted to make sure that the design was as subtle as possible.”
Another favourite of mine that is guaranteed to add to any pension envy you might be feeling – the golden handcuffs.
