Cabaal is an Ottawa-based musician who you may not have heard of yet, but who will soon be making a bigger splash on the music scene. As a participant in the 2012 Red Bull Music Academy, Cabaal will be travelling to New York City this September to participate in what sounds like the ultimate band camp where he will get to take advantage of the wisdom and advice of some pretty fancy people. Previous lecturers in the marathon session of lectures, workshops and general creativity include the likes of Peaches, A-Trak and Erykah Badu.
Cabaal’s synthesizer-based ambiant music features slower beats and dreamy sounds to create and mix different musical textures. His newest album, Emanations, an “oozing synth jams made for the pre-dawn”, is available for free download.The video above features Out of Body, the second track from Emanations.
