Some of us lucky folks have a long weekend, but even if you don’t, there’s so much to check out around the city that you’ll make the most of it.
Lucky were the folks who headed out to The Rainbow on Tuesday night to catch another instalment of the 2024 Ottawa Ice Dragon Boat Festival concert series. Marc Lepage has the photos to prove it.
Weekend one of the 2024 Ice Dragon Boat Festival saw free performances from Jasmine Trails, Pony Girl, and OMBIIGIZI at the Rainbow Bistro. Photographer Marc Lepage captured the night in photographs.
It’s the second weekend of Winterlude and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the Rideau Canal will reopen. In the meantime, we’ve got a jam packed weekend of winter fun!
We have arrived at the first weekend of Winterlude here in the nation’s capital! While it doesn’t look as though the canal will be open for skating at any point, there are still plenty of fun outdoor winter activities to enjoy in this mild winter weather, as well as several indoor activities, if that is more your style.
Local music enthusiasts can look forward to an equally strong lineup of Ottawa artists like Jasmine Trails, Pony Girl, fanclubwallet, Alanna Sterling, Craig Cardiff, Summersets, Loon Choir, Graven, Steph La Rochelle, and more.
It’s *technically* the second weekend of Winterlude, but after a rollercoaster week of weather, the Rideau Canal still hasn’t opened and ice carvings are starting to melt (despite the best efforts of NCC staff!). That said, there are still some great Winterlude-esque activities to enjoy this weekend, plus a number of other great Ottawa events.
Well Ottawa, we’re back in the Orange zone. With that change comes new opportunities to enjoy arts and culture in town, while putting into practice all those social distancing/proper hygiene techniques we’ve been perfecting over the last year.

Things are starting to look up for us, Ottawa. Both the days and the Rideau Canal Skateway have gotten longer this week, and we may be on the precipice of a cautious reopening. (Maybe. Don’t quote me.) February is the shortest month of the year, so let’s get through it gracefully, with heart and some optimism for the approaching spring!
February may be a short month, but the weekends are making up for lost time by being chock full of fun things to do.
Dear Rouge play at the Ottawa Ice Dragon Boat Festival as part of the free concert series February 8 and 9.
