There’s a lot to look forward to in 2019 (a certain blog is turning 10!) and this final weekend of 2018 is a great way to close out another exciting year in Ottawa. Read on for a roundup of New Year’s Eve events and have a fun, safe weekend! 

Earlier this year, Impact Hub Ottawa and Artengine hosted the Future Cities Forum, which brought together hundreds of citizens and young civic leaders. The main motivation was a realization that while our cities are increasingly powered by technology, most of us have little knowledge or understanding of how these technologies work, or the influence they have on our culture and society.

A team of local engineers and entrepreneurs has made it to the semi-finals of one of the world’s top prizes in climate solutions. Tandem Technical, headquartered in Ottawa, is one of just a handful of teams worldwide to advance in the $20M NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE, a global challenge to convert carbon dioxide into valuable products.

As Impact Hub Ottawa prepared to move its new home across Centretown, they threw one more party to talk about where their coworking community came from and the possibilities for its future.
