It finally feels like we’ve turned a corner on all that April rain and will see the May flowers now! Enjoy this beautiful spring in our fab capital with some of our suggestions below!
April showers have brought us May flowers! Although we’re still a week away from the start of the annual Canadian Tulip Festival, some of the early tulips have bloomed in Major’s Hill Park, along the Rideau Canal, and at Dow’s Lake. While I could easily spend a weekend touring the tulips, there are plenty of other options to pass your time this weekend.
Happy May long weekend! With the city full of colourful blooms, it certainly feels like we’ve finally made it into real spring, and we get to enjoy a three-day weekend as a reward!
Welcome to tulip season, friends! It seems like the whole city has come alive in the last week, with the magnolias exploding off their branches and the tulips suddenly coming out of nowhere. We are solidly heading towards a warm, welcoming spring.
After what seemed like neverending rain, cool weather, and grey skies, the sun is finally out and it looks like it will be sticking around and bringing warmer temperatures this weekend. While we may still be in lockdown mode here in Ottawa, this is a chance to get outside and enjoy our beautiful city, keeping safely away from others. The virtual events, which have become the norm, are in shorter supply, but there is still plenty to do to turn your mood around and we’ve got some great ideas to help get your weekend started.
Despite the recent ugly temperatures, the tulips are putting on their annual spring show for us, so the only mood in Ottawa right now can be hopeful! I’m channeling hopefulness this weekend, friends, as we face another one in lockdown, but inching closer to warmer weather, herd immunity, and that sweet, sweet freedom of the red zone!
There are some new outdoor activities to enjoy this weekend. We are now able to kick a soccer ball around, play a round of disc golf, shoot some hoops, or pop an ollie at the skate parks. Picnics are also now a thing. While we agree that this is very exciting news, please make sure that you enjoy these newfound freedoms safely and respectfully, while keeping your distance from others.
You may not have even realized it, but here we are, May 2-4 again and turning a corner weather-wise right on time.
