As of Sunday morning, January 7, an additional 2 kilometres of the Rideau Canal Skateway opened between the Pretoria Bridge and Rideau Street. This new section brings to a total of 7 kilometres the length of ice surface now available to skaters and visitors.
The 48th season of the Rideau Canal Skateway was officially launched Friday morning, January 5, when the section between the Bronson rest area and the Pretoria Bridge opened, including all Dows Lake,
The National Capital Commission plans to open the other sections of the world’s largest skating rink as soon as ice conditions are safe and weather permits.
