Ottawa book lovers rejoice! The Ottawa Indie Bookstore Crawl returns this year on April 26-28 for its second iteration after last year’s big success.
The event marks Canadian Independent Bookstore Day on April 27, which celebrates the work of indie bookstores, the communities they support by providing a safe and inclusive space of shared interests and belonging, and Canadian culture writ large.
“Indie bookstores, and the booksellers they employ, are passionate about connecting readers with writers and creating genuine, lasting relationships with their customers. The shops function as pillars of their communities—inclusive spaces for conversation and hubs for dynamic events,” a press release for the crawl writes. “Indies are also vital to the national literary ecosystem, championing Canadian authors and illustrators from all genres and promoting writers from diverse and underrepresented communities.”
For a chance to win $200 to spend at Ottawa’s indie bookstores, collect stamps from seven out of eight of the following bookstores:
- Books on Beechwood
- Mill Street Books
- Octopus Books
- Perfect Books
- Singing Pebble Books
- The Spaniel’s Tale Bookstore
- Westboro Books
- World of Maps
The $200 grand prize will be awarded in the form of $25 gift cards for each participating bookstore.
Each bookstore is also hosting its own events, contests, sales, and giveaways to celebrate the big day.
