Late last month we revealed Happy Goat as the venue for a 613 Day block party, and with that the first glimpse of poster artwork by Colin White. We’re longtime fans of his project sketching every corner store in Ottawa, so Colin was naturally the first local artist Apartment613 reached out to commission this year.
His original illustration stood out in a load of feeds, earning praise from @apt613 followers and more than a couple DMs inquiring about print sales! Well, a limited edition of prints (12×18) and postcards (8.5×5.5) are now available.
Inspired by Ottawa, though not any one place, White’s illustration is full of easter eggs for Apt613 readers: on the far left, someone is holding the 613 sign spotted at last year’s event and *ahem* elsewhere too. Further down the line, a character inspired by one of Ottawa’s most prolific photographers, because what would an event be without Ming Wu? The addresses on these buildings are “6” and “13” with six, one, and three birds along the telephone wire above. What else can you spot in the hi-res image?

Apartment613 is celebrating 613 Day and the blog’s tenth birthday at Happy Goat (35 Laurel St) on June 13, 2019. Admission is free, however please RSVP so we know how many to expect. Happy Goat is wheelchair accessible and has gender neutral washrooms.
