We gain that extra hour back this weekend, giving us extra time to jam in all of the events taking place over the next few days.
Support Local Month officially kicks off tomorrow, with two events happening – the free Scattered Clouds show, and a Dia de los Muertos party at the Atomic Rooster. The HiLoTrons show at the Black Sheep is a special one, too – they’ll have the Goodluck Assembly and Hydrothermal Vents on stage, too, with Hard Science providing visuals. Tickets for the bus from Ottawa to Wakefield are still available! CHUO 89.1FM will be recording the show for Support Local, so if you can’t make it to the Sheep, you can still catch the whole show from the comfort of your home later in the month.
The vernissage for Craftwork, Victoire Boutique’s Support Local installation, is Saturday night at the Dalhousie store. They’re reviving the Rock ‘n’ Roll Pizza party, too – pizza from town, beer from Beau’s, and rockin’ tunes all be available. 327 Wine Bar will have the jazzy tunes of The Somerset Combo on Saturday, part of a fundraiser for the Ottawa Humane Society. town restaurant, Antique Skate and CHUO 89.1 FM (with lots of food on hand!) are all hosting fundraisers for 1 Square Foot, which is hoping to raise enough cash to complete a skate park at McNabb.
Speaking of a skateboards, Thursday afternoon (as in, this afternoon) you can catch the latest edition of Creative Mornings, featuring Aaron Cayer of Antique Skate Shop talking about their For Pivots Sake project to get skateboards to kids, and teach them along the way.
Friday after work, head to the NAC for their Casual Fridays event – they’ll have wine and small plates before the music. We’re giving away a pair of tickets – email us at apartment613@gmail.com with “Casual Friday” in the subject line before Friday noon, and you’ll be entered into the draw.
On to the spooky side of the weekend, with lots of chances to don your favourite costume. Tonight is the annual Rockalily Burlesque zombie strippers show, and there’s a Boob Bash raising funds for breast cancer research at Flybar. Pressed has the Moonfruits costume party, while the Elmdale hosts the WereWolfbarmitzvah. The Great Pumpkin Charity Ball happens Friday night,

Film lovers and cyclists can unite at the screening of Bike City Great City at the Mayfair on Sunday afternoon. Or, catch a theatre production that also happens to be a yoga class, down at the Ottawa Theatre School.
