Well, folks, we’ve just about made it to the end of Support Local month. More than 70 events and 150 artists, musicians, restaurants and shops filled November up with creative collaborations and events. There are still a few more, though, to pack in before the month winds up: tonight, 25One Community celebrates their first anniversary, while Goods, a shop-within-a-shop at Victoire’s West Wellington location, kicks off tonight.

Tomorrow, mark Black Friday in style with two shop local versions – one at terra20, and at the shops along Dalhousie. That same evening, Galerie SAW Gallery marks its 40th anniversary with a Gala Fundraiser, special exhibitions and more. Saturday, catch the last of the 327 Wine Bar’s fundraisers for the Ottawa Humane Society, featuring the Somerset Combo. And then? It’s the Support Local Wrap Party down at Fall Down Gallery, with all proceeds of the evening going to 1 Square Foot (raising money for a skate park down at McNabb).

There are, of course, more local events happening: Friday morning, Creative Mornings has Stephanie Vicente from Herd Magazine speaking. At that event, they’ll be launching the logo for LocAle, a local beer partnership between Hidden Harvest, Kichesippi and Creative Mornings. That night, keep celebrating Herd Magazine’s first anniversary down at Gabba Hey.

In the gift-giving world, the annual Great Big Smalls show at Cube launches, with more than 60 artists providing a diversity of cultural gifts. Idle Hands Craft sale is all day Sunday, with dozens of vendors (including us, with Support Local tshirts on hand!). Or, get crafty yourself with the terrarium workshop at Artengine.

In the music world, Blakdenim is here as part of the Up & Up concert series on Thursday, while Friday will see Arms of the Girl and Paint at Zaphods. Friday will have some prairie pride with Little Miss Higgins over in Wakefield. Shanghai is marking the end of Movember with Sons of Pluto and Beau RealHawksley Workman is in town on Saturday night, while Public Animal, Big Dick and Mass take the stage down at the Dominion. To round out the weekend, Daniel Martin’s album release happens at Les Brasseurs du Temps on Sunday afternoon, while Three Times Lucky is out at the Black Sheep.

For Thursday and Friday only, you can catch The Stephen Harper Portrait Gallery at Arts Court. Those same evenings, you can catch Stephen Harper: The Musical, a new play that delves into the depths of Canadian politics. We’re giving away a pair of tickets to the Friday performance of the musical – send us an email at apartment613 [at] gmail.com with “Stephen Harper” in the subject line by Friday noon, and you’ll be entered to win!

Sunday marks the start of December, and, providing a grown-up twist on the advent calendar, the Hintonburg Public House will have a new drink every day for the countdown to Christmas.

There are, of course, many more events happening this weekend. Let us know below what you’re up to, and check out our events calendar for more listings!
