Weekend Roundup: Quoi faire?

The year continues to fly by and, somehow, we are already approaching mid-October! We are fortunate to have a long weekend of great weather ahead of us, so get out there and enjoy yourselves, folks!

All Weekend

Databells, an art installation by Rich Loen is being shown at the Salon des Bananes Gallery on Carling. “Databells is an immersive experience featuring a whimsical and eclectic collection of bells, ringing to the beat of the statistics they’re connected to.” While the exhibit is free to attend, you must reserve a spot ahead of time, so be sure to do so here.

If you are in the mood for a drive, why not check out Robert Plante Greenhouses’ second annual Thanksgiving Market? From 9am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday you can grab a coffee and stroll through some beautiful greenhouses and a market of over 130 vendors, and grab some grub from delicious food trucks.

With such beautiful weather in store, it’s the perfect opportunity to hop on your bike this weekend and enjoy the last of the NCC Weekend Bikedays. With sunshine and the incredible fall colours, it is sure to be a beautiful ride.

Thursday

Admission to the Museum of Nature and the National Gallery of Canada are free after 5pm on Thursday night and both have exhibits in their final weekend that are worth checking out. It is the final weekend of The Man Who Planted Trees exhibit at the Museum of Nature and Erica Rutherford at the Gallery.


Friday

Indie Pop band GRFN is taking over Art House Cafe on Somerset Friday night with Mary Hope for a night of acoustic ballads and rock songs. Tickets are available online for $15.

Saturday

Head to Atelier at Arts Court on Saturday night for Wedding Party, a completely improvised theatre performance about a bride and her friends celebrating her upcoming wedding with a fun-filled bachelorette weekend.

If you are looking for a beautiful bouquet to bring to Thanksgiving dinner, look no further than the Ottawa Flower Market at Parkdale Market this Saturday. You can arrange your own bouquet with help from the florists, or choose one of their ready-made bouquets.

Worth the drive, Fall for Merrickville takes place at Heritage Stables this Saturday. A bounty of fall fun can be found, from hay rides to pumpkins, food trucks to face painting. There will also be live entertainment and a market of over 100 vendors.

Sunday

Atletico Ottawa takes on Vancouver FC this Sunday afternoon during their last home game of the regular season. One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the Caldwell Family Centre, to help them provide nutritious meals to those in need.

It’s Free Play Sunday After Dark at House of Targ this Sunday, beginning at 8pm. With DJs on deck, unlimited pinball, and the best perogies, you are sure to have a good time.

Monday

NHL hockey is back! The Ottawa Senators home opener against Nashville Predators is happening this holiday Monday at 1pm.
