Ottawa’s new anime convention, brought to you by Ottawa Comiccon, Anime Ottawa takes place this weekend at the EY Centre. There will be cosplay, manga, video games, panels, and more.
The Sugar Festival may have been last weekend, but there is still opportunity to check out one of many sugar bushes in and around the city, should you not have had the chance. There is the Vanier Sugar Shack, the Log Farm, and Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm, to name a few.
For those with young kids, there are plenty of Easter egg hunts and other family friendly activities happening at places like the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, Valleyview Little Animal Farm, the Diefenbunker, and Billings Estate.
A series of Candlelight Concerts are being performed at the Gladstone Theatre this weekend. Come listen to the Best of Hans Zimmer, a Tribute to Adele, and a Tribute to Coldplay & Imagine Dragons.
Canadian schools compete in the Canadian Improv Games at the NAC this weekend, with the finals happening this Saturday. If you are unable to attend in person, the Improv Games are also available via free livestream.
Thursday
Do you like to pick up a pencil and draw? Join Urban Sketchers Ottawa for An Evening at the Canadian Museum of History this Thursday. Entry to the museum is free from 5pm until 7pm, so you can get in on the fun for free! When you are done sketching some of the many beautiful sights around the museum, meet the group in the Great Hall at 6:45pm to share your work and grab a group photo.
Crepes and Collage is going down this Thursday at Ward 14, from 5pm ‘til late. There will be sweet crepes and savoury crepes by Chef The Acorn, collaging with Kiki and Nicole, and tunes by Jazzy Janks. This will be the last Crepes and Collage event until the fall, so be sure to grab yourself a spot in advance.

Artifacts, the first of an art project and music event series hosted by Possible Worlds, kicks off this Thursday at Arts Court. DJ Jason Skilz will be on the decks playing some great electronic music and the DIY art project will be led by Melanie Yugo. This session’s project is collage work. All tools and supplies are provided, but you are welcome to bring any supplies of your own that you may wish to use.
For an evening of various rock genres, Out by Lucy, Lloyd’s Money, and Dolonia are playing this Thursday night at House of Targ.
Kick off the long weekend with The Whole Night Long at Lowertown Brewery. There will be drinks, dancing, and DJs. Beats by DJ Trinidaddy and DJ Seiizi.
Friday
If you are a fan of live music, there is plenty happening this Friday night. Legendary New York City slowcore band Codeine is playing alongside special guests Neurotype, and Ex Luthor at SAW Centre. B.A. Johnston is also joined by Ottawa metal group THuNDERKOK and Kingston punk band the Beta 58’s at House of Targ.
Art House becomes a speakeasy this Friday, for its monthly Fever Pitch Hot Jazz night. A live quartet begins at 8pm. Snag yourself an advance ticket to guarantee yourself a spot and arrive early to get a seat with a view of the band.
The tradition continues as Ottawa’s professional chamber orchestra, Thirteen Strings presents its Good Friday concert “Reflection” on March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre with special guests Geoffrey Sirett (Baritone) and David Marks (Viola). The concert has become a welcome haven for those looking for a thoughtful respite from busy and stressful times.
Saturday
Metcalfe Farmers’ Market’s Easter Market celebrates its first farmers’ market of the season at the Greely Community Centre this Saturday. The market features over 50 vendors, as well as music by Move 100 and tasty treats to feast on.
There is also a Ukrainian Easter Market at the Ukrainian Orthodox Hall on Byron this Saturday. Here you will find Ukrainian foods, crafts, and streetwear, as well as DIY Pysanka kits.
Skydiggers play the Bronson Centre w/ Paul Langlois Band this Saturday at 7pm. You can get yourself a ticket here.
Sunday
Dominion-Chalmers United Church is thrilled to announce the return of the Sounds of Spring, an Easter concert, set to take place on Easter Sunday at 1pm. This year’s concert, which is offered to all in the Ottawa community for free, promises an unforgettable gathering. Featuring a stellar lineup of 14 young artists, the concert will showcase a diverse range of talents, from breathtaking vocal performances to majestic brass and pipe organ.
This Sunday at Irene’s Pub, the Sunday Night Revue presents a fantastic folk concert featuring Claude Munson. The show starts at 8:30pm sharp and tickets at the door will be PWYC.
