This weekend is jammed packed with activities so let’s dive right in.

All Weekend

CityFolk returns this weekend to Lansdowne with shows starting Wednesday and running through til Sunday. We’ll be posting daily previews and gig photos here. For the foodies out there, Taste Ottawa x CityFolk is a culinary mashup of your favourite local restaurants with special CityFolk dishes and deals.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be at the Aero Gatineau-Ottawa airshow this weekend, along with a number of other unique aircrafts. There’ll be special performances as well as static aircraft—check out the schedule here.

The West End Studio Tour is one of the longest running studio tours in the region. Visit artist studios west of downtown this weekend and next.

Le Tour de Gatineau is bringing the best female cyclists in the world together for a weekend of racing.

The Cat Video Fest (yes, it’s a real thing) will be at the Bytowne Cinema this weekend with a compilation reel of the best cat videos. Get your tickets meow.

Thursday

Are you in your Taylor Swift era? Head to the Bytowne Cinema on Thursday for a Taylor Swift sing along.

Mateo, an emerging artist paving his way through the “New Vibe” Afro Latin scene in Montreal, is playing the Shenkman Arts Centre this Thursday.

Urban Art Collective’s Thursday Night Market is on again from 4-9pm. Check out the full list of food and vendors here.

The National Capital Commission River House has been a hit this summer, offering up a new swimming spot along the Ottawa River. Did you know the River House opened in 1923? Join the Ottawa New Edinburgh Club to celebrate the NCC River House’s 100th birthday! 1920’s-inspired outfits encouraged. Tickets are available online.

Friday

Get ready for the spooky season with Capital Pop-Up Cinema’s Young Frankenstein on Sparks Street. The movie starts at dusk and you can bring your own chair or rent one for $5.

Join the Grito de Independencia party on Sparks Street, hosted by the Embassy of Mexico in Canada on September 15 at 7pm. There’s a whole weekend of activities planned: check out this Instagram post for all the details.

Dominion City Brewing Co. is celebrating their 9th birthday this Friday with a special outdoor cookout from Coconut Lagoon, birthday cake, 5km Dominion City Run Club, outdoors games, and more.

Enjoy Radio Hull soirée 1, a free outdoor show with Pony Girl, Treus Jones, and Preloved presented live in-person and live-to-air on DAIMON’s Radio Hull 106.5 FM in Hull/Ottawa, or online.

Saturday

Square Lemon Ottawa is hosting Falling For You Craft Market this Saturday at the Glebe Community Centre. Free admission, free workshops, and over 40 vendors from 10:30am-3pm.

The first ever Sandy Hill Food Truck Festival will be taking over Osgoode Street from Henderson Avenue to Chapel Street from noon to 7pm.

Ottawa Artisans and the ByWard Market are showcasing more than 50 local vendors at the Summer Showcase happening on York Street. Stop by between 11am-6pm in front of the Ottawa sign.

Canada Army Run is taking over the downtown core Sunday morning with 5km, 10km and half marathon races. If you haven’t signed up but want in, there are limited spots available on-site during race kit pick up at Cartier Square Drill Hall. Good luck to everyone taking part!

Sip on tea, enjoy a scone, and watch Little Women during High Tea Cinema at the Bytowne Cinema.

OperOttawa opens its 11th season on Sunday with an updated interpretation of Suor Angelica by Puccini. This season will feature all female singers. The afternoon performance will kick off with a gala of opera arias performed by members of the Suor Angelica cast.
