Buenos dias, audiophiles, and welcome to another edition of the Apartment613 Live podcast. This week, we’re talking all things Fringe. We freed regular co-host Ryan Saxby Hill from his studio shackles and let him run loose through the Ottawa Fringe Festival beer tent, armed only with his wits and a microphone – check out his chats with regular Apt613 theatre critic Andrew Snowdon and festival organizer Patrick Gauthier. We’ve also got some behind-the-scenes sounds from the editors and writers who put together our festival review site FullyFringed.ca, and we chat about how Fringe festivals play out in our hometowns.

On the music front, we dive into the Polaris Music Prize long list and spin some of our faves – including Ottawa-born rapper Eternia, whose album with fellow emcee MoSS, “At Last,” was listed on the Polaris site as an Ottawa disc when we originally broadcast but has since been switched to Toronto. (All together now: Booooooooo!) Click through for this week’s playlist. And speaking of original broadcasts: if you want to catch us live, we’re on the air Thursday afternoons at 2pm on CHUO 89.1 FM. Enjoy – it’s en fuego, as always.

Apartment613 Live playlist for the week of June 16, 2011:

  • Shotgun Jimmie, “King of Kreuzberg”
  • Louise Burns, “What Do You Want to Do?”
  • One Hundred Dollars, “Work”
  • Galaxie, “Piste Un”
  • Austra, “The Choke”
  • Eternia and MoSS, “The Half”
