The Ottawa Titans have won 20 of their last 25 games, and aren’t showing signs of cooling off anytime soon. New acqusitions during the last home stand have been contributing in a huge way, especially infielder Aaron Casillas who already has 13 hits and 6 RBIs in 13 games. Casillas came to us straight out of his NCAA season in California and he has been a quick footed and accurate addition to our infield, replacing team captain and infielder Jason Dicochea who has retired from playing to coach college baseball.

The team planned a heartfelt send off for Dico on Friday the 28th, announcing to the home crowd that he would be leaving, and interviewing the outgoing captain on the field after the game about his time in Ottawa. Dicochea played all three years with the Titans, primarily at 2nd base. He had a career batting average of .290 with 26 homeruns and 142 RBIs. It is not customary for baseball teams to name captains, but this year the Titans chose to give the honourary title to Dichochea, which seems like foreshadowing of his retirement to coach baseball at his alma mater. He will certainly be missed.
The boys of summer are back home this week for two Canadian series, against the Trois Rivieres Aigles Tuesday- Thursday, and the Québec Capitales Friday-Sunday. The Capitales are tied for 1st place in the Eastern Conference, with the Titans only one game behind. So a successful series against Québec could see us at the top of the standings for the first time in three years!
AJ Wright continues to lead the team offensively with a .315 batting average, followed closely by Taylor Wright (no relation) at .294 and 1st base/designated hitter Jamey Smart with 35 RBIs.
After this past weekend’s Bluesfest Nickelback performance, the team is paying homage to the Canadian rockers with Don’t Hate on Nickelback Night on Thursday the 11th. Friday night is Theme Night (Taylor’s Version) with the promise of friendship bracelets, great puns and fireworks at the conclusion of the game. Latin Night is Saturday the 13th, which usually means fantastic music and food, and representation from the LatinX communities in Ottawa. Mr Señor will be offering a one time special of pupusas for the evening, which is a tasty Salvadorean delicacy. You will find me in line. Sunday is Funday as usual, and there will be a bouncy castle, crafts and kids can run the bases after the game.

The Frontier League All Star Game takes place next week in Québec City, and the Titans will be sending 3 of our best to rep the 613. AJ Wright, Grant Larson and Erasmo Piñales made the roster for the Eastern Division. This is the second time for both Wright and Larson to be named All Stars.
Advance tickets for Titans games are $12 or $16 and can be bought online or at the box office. Expect to pay $4 more on game days, regardless of where you buy them. Parking is through Indigo parking, so there are QR codes throughout the lot to pay by phone.
