It feels like spring has already been long, but the arrival of the boys in red and white at the Ottawa Baseball Stadium means that summer is truly right around the corner. Spring training is short in the Frontier League, and so the Ottawa Titans have only a handful of practices to gel together as a roster, and formulate a game plan for their third season.

Last year’s season had a rough start, and losses in the bullpen left us without an experienced starting rotation, creating a losing 8-16 record by the beginning of June. Thankfully, once the dust settled on lots of roster moving and shaking, the Titans came back to finish the year out of the playoff race, but with a .500 season. Manager Bobby Brown is more optimistic about this season, with a better grip on the pitching staff going into spring training.

We’re very comfortable with 8 or 9 of the guys that we’ve got […] and still looking to see what shakes out in our league here, and other leagues in the next 5-7 nights.

So while we did re-sign Grant Larson, Tyler Jandron and flame thrower Erasmo Piñales, we will have to wait until opening week to see what the pitching squad looks like, and who suits up for the Titans this summer. No roster is finalized during spring training in the Frontier League, so these long sunny practices in Overbrook are high pressure tryouts, even for our veterans.

Returning in the infield are star Titans veterans AJ Wright, Jackie Urbaez and Taylor Wright, all experienced and flexible players who can we expect to see play key roles in both the infield and outfield. There are new faces this spring as well, including some MLB draft picks, former AAA level players and some familiar faces from other Frontier League teams, but we will await the opening week roster to dig into the details there.

Tuesday May 7 is the only exhibition game at home, and a chance to test run game day operations at the stadium. There will be full food and drink services open, and first chances to get Titans merch before the home opener on May 21st.

This season’s promotional calendar includes multiple fireworks games, giveaways, Bark in the Park, special weekday day games, Bingo, 613 Night, Girls’ Night Out and more. Stay tuned for our Opening Week breakdown.

Advance tickets for Titans games are $12 or $16 and can be bought online or at the box office. Expect to pay $4 more on game days, regardless of where you buy them. Parking is through Indigo parking, so there are QR codes throughout the lot to pay by phone.
