BlackJacks Fall Short in Thriller Against Last-Place Rattlers

The Ottawa BlackJacks had a chance to clinch a playoff berth in front of their home crowd at TD Place on Friday afternoon, July 26, but the Saskatchewan Rattlers had other plans. Ottawa fell 96–97 to the league’s last-place team in what could be a costly loss in the tightly packed Eastern Conference.

Volleyball Nations League Kicks Off in Ottawa June 4-8

The Volleyball Nations League (VNL) has officially arrived in Ottawa once again, for the first time with Women’s Week 1 of the preliminary phase launching on June 4 at The Arena at TD Place. Team Canada is playing host to some of the world’s top women’s volleyball teams, including Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic, Japan, the Netherlands, and Serbia. The competition runs until June 8, offering fans five days of elite international action and excitement.

The Ottawa BlackJacks dramatically opened their 2025 CEBL campaign in coach DeAveiro’s first official game in charge, falling just short in a nail-biting 87–85 loss to the Niagara River Lions in front of a packed and energized crowd at TD Place. While the team’s outcome was heartbreaking, the performance was anything but disappointing.
