Normally this is where we say “It’s that time again!” as Show Tune Showdown, the fundraiser competition amongst some of Ottawa’s best musical theatre companies, fills the seats of Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe every April…but this year is set to be the final one! We guess we should instead say “This is your last chance to catch one of Ottawa’s epic musical theatre events of the year!”
It’s that time again! 2024’s Show Tune Showdown, one of the most exciting nights in Ottawa theatre, is hitting Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe on April 27. Get ready to dance in your seat, sing and use your trivia skills alongside some of the best in Ottawa’s theatre scene. We chatted with Rob Bowman, the 2024 producer and concept originator, to learn more about what we can expect from this beloved annual event.

We are one work week closer to real spring now, friends. Can you feel it? While the blossoms are slower to arrive than last year, we are counting our blessings and watching closely for the next perfect moment to hit a patio! This weekend is one for the books, with the launch of undercurrents—back in person!—and the Ottawa Grassroots Festival bringing new musical voices to downtown. The NAC is hitting it out of the park, as usual, and there is some great eco-conscious ultra-local shopping to do to round out the perfect spring weekend.

We are so excited to get our butts back in seats for one of our favourite annual local celebrations of all things musical theatre. We caught up with Show Tune Showdown Producer Rob Bowman and one of the organizers, Heather Daley, to see what this year’s production has in store.

When we first discovered this local competition we were instantly hooked.
Everyone’s favourite battle royale with jazz hands is here once again. Show Tune Showdown takes place on April 13 at Meridian Centrepointe Theatre.
