The Ontario Festival of Small Halls is back with a series of six shows just in time for the holidays. As the name would suggest, generally the festival’s shows take place in small venues in rural Eastern Ontario, and this time they’ll visit Burritts Rapids, Athens, Pakenham, Chaffey’s Lock, Tweed, Westmeath, and… the National Arts Centre!
A special televised show will feature performances by the Downchild Blues Band (with special guests Dan Aykroyd, Paul Shaffer, David Wilcox, Kenny Neal, Gene Taylor, and Erja Lyytinen), Colin James, Big Sugar, Sass Jordan, Matt Andersen, MonkeyJunk, and Dawn Tyler Watson.
As usual, Saturdays are chock-full of artists, both local and beyond, with the prime focus on some of the biggest names in hip-hop history on the main stage.
Day 2 at Bluesfest saw a mix of country, DJs, and local favourites. Melissa Ethridge, Eddie Quotez, Old Whiskey Road, Too Slim and The Taildraggers, and more played to an enthusiastic Friday night crowd.
