From filmmaker Foad Asadi and producer Titus Liao, Ottawa-shot short film I AM Canadian is a story is about the journey of protagonist Parsa, who has fled the violence of the Women, Life, Freedom movement in Iran.
Twelve Tales is an anthology feature film created by Ben Bergeron and Colin Ziraldo, and filmed over the course of one year. Twelve Tales will be screening on Saturday, April 13 at the Mayfair Theatre at 3pm.
On December 1, we attended the launch party of this year’s Digi60 Filmmaker’s Festival, happening this month at the Arts Court and the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG).
The Live Pitch at Digi60 is a pulse-pounding pitch event where filmmakers have five minutes to sell a panel of industry insiders on their new film projects.
Digi60 sees Ottawa-area filmmakers compete to create a short film within 60 days. To call Digi60 a festival is accurate, but more than that, it represents Ottawa’s emerging film culture and provides a venue for filmmakers and audience members to connect. This year, the filmmakers interpreted the theme of escape. Each film in Block B depicted escape according to different angles, from the emotional to the physical.
