By Apartment613 on October 10, 2023

We are celebrating Canada’s leading handmade market in fully licensed style this fall!

Guests at this fall’s Signatures Handmade Market can shop, sip, and savour thanks to a unique partnership with local craft producers Overflow Brewing Company, Dunrobin Distilleries, Casa-Dea Estates Winery, and gourmet food exhibitors. It’s all part of the celebrations marking Signatures’ 40th anniversary.

In four decades, Signatures has produced more than 500 shows. Based right here in Ottawa, it is a 100 percent Canadian-owned and operated business. Each year, Signatures accepts over 3,000 participating artisans and welcomes more than 400,000 visitors to its 16 events in 11 cities across Canada.

The much-anticipated fall edition of the event is hosted in Lansdowne Park’s stunning Aberdeen Pavilion, a national historic site. The show, which debuted at the Ottawa Congress Centre in 1983, runs from October 19–22. Want to go for free?! Enter our giveaway on Instagram, linked below.

This fall’s four-day Signatures event is a shopping experience unlike any other, spotlighting the work of more than 125 artists, artisans, makers, and designers from coast to coast. Buyers and browsers alike can meet the creators of distinctive Canadian handmade goods and hear the stories behind their finely crafted fashion pieces, jewellery, home décor, fine art, sculptures, natural body care products, delicious gourmet treats, and more. And because the event is now fully licensed, you can sip and savour while you shop!

Opening night on October 19 features a special Signatures birthday party, with a beverage included in your ticket price. As well, there will be tasty catered delicacies from food exhibitors, who are pulling out all the stops to celebrate this Signatures milestone. There will also be prize draws during the evening, with a chance to win valuable show gift cards.

In another first, Signatures has partnered with the Ottawa Grassroots Festival to present fabulous local artists Jessica Pearson and the East Wind and Kristine St-Pierre, who will perform in the lounge area throughout the show’s run.

“It’s an honour to help spread the word about our fine local breweries, distillers, vintners, and gourmet food specialists,” says show president and co-founder John Ladouceur, an artisan himself. “The quality of their products is outstanding and supporting them is key to a vibrant local economy. Working with local artisans in the city where we got our start is a wonderful way to celebrate our 40th anniversary.”

The artisan market is open on Thursday, October 19, and Friday, October 20, from 10am to 9pm; Saturday, October 21, from 10am to 6pm and Sunday, October 22, from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free for 17-year-olds and under; seniors (65+) tickets are $6 each, and general admission is $8.
