Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived–and now in Ottawa live! Broadway Across Canada’s production of SIX runs at the National Arts Centre from May 21–26, bringing the six wives of King Henry VIII to the stage. Get ready to dance along to 500 years of history and rock out to a suite of epic girl power ballads!
Written by Tony Award winners Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, SIX brings the six ex-wives of Henry VIII together to share their stories and see who has the most enticing tale. Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr each have a solo song telling their version of their story, often contrary to how they have historically been represented.
Winning a Tony for Best Original Score, every song in this show is a knockout. Some of our favourites include No Way, Don’t Lose Ur Head and All You Wanna Do. With consistently powerful lyrics and a great mix of upbeat and slower ballads, we don’t doubt you will be listening to these on repeat for weeks.

More concert style than your standard musical, SIX feels like a constant party, with badass costumes, a live on-stage band and a powerhouse cast bringing the show to life. It also tells important stories from different perspectives to better understand the impacts of power dynamics and the historical narrative that has most commonly been told and documented.
This production in particular had fantastic sound on opening night, and it would be impossible to single out just one or two of the queens as they were all stellar singers and performers. The on-stage band was fantastic and made to be part of the show in a fun way.
SIX is on stage now ready for its royal welcome–with only a few tickets remaining, this is definitely one not to be missed!
Broadway Across Canada’s presentation of SIX takes place from May 21–26 with 8pm evening performances from Tuesday to Saturday and 7:30pm on Sunday. Matinee performances are 2pm on Saturday and 1:30pm on Sunday. SIX runs for one hour and 20 minutes with no intermission.
