Celebrating the illustrious career of Stephen Sondheim, Putting it Together features nearly thirty Sondheim tunes and runs all weekend at LIVE! on Elgin. If the rest of the run is anything like opening night, be sure to get there early to grab the best seats as they packed the place with adoring Sondheim and Lost Baggage Musical Theatre (LBMT) fans in this intimate venue.
Performed by five people from LBMT, the characters are thrown together at a party in a Manhattan penthouse but transport the audience to the stage of an abandoned theatre, an estate in Sweden, an island outside of Paris, a street off the Roman Forum, the woods of a fairy tale and a mythical town in the Southwest – all through the sound of Sondheim.
The small but mighty cast, including Simon Drake, Adrien Pyke, Yazen Jaouni, Susanna Doherty, and Kiran Matharu, brought down the house with emotion, humour and excellent harmonies. The stellar six-piece band lined the stage and brought depth and power to each number.
Sondheim is widely regarded as one of musical theatre’s giants and LBMT pays tribute through some of the greatest hits of his repertoire. Sondheim, famous for shows such as Company, Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd and Sunday in the Park with George, is said to have redefined the American musical and continued to produce new work until the time of his passing in 2021.
If you are a musical fan there is no doubt you’ve heard many of these famous tunes and maybe not even realized they were Sondheim. There is something about his music that is just like nothing else, and LBMT brings you the very best in this lively, funny and engaging performance.

Putting it Together takes place from April 28 to 30 at LIVE! on Elgin. Evening performances are at 8 p.m. Matinees are at 2 p.m. The show runs 2 hours. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door and seating is general admission with doors opening one hour before.
