Ever vogued at an orchestral concert? Well, prepare yourself for a night of fabulousness, Ottawa! If you’ve been longing for an evening of dazzling violin and orchestra sounds with a taste of style, attitude and a killer sashay, then it’s your lucky day. Thorgy Thor brings her talent and sass to the National Arts Centre (NAC) stage along with the NAC Orchestra.

Thorgy Thor is a drag performance artist and classically trained musician, who you may also know as a TV personality on season eight of RuPaul’s Drag Race and season three of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars. The “Queen of Classical Music” brings fashion, wit and immense musical skill to the stage for Ottawa audiences.

In tow with Principal Youth Conductor and NACO Creative Partner Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser and the NAC Orchestra, the three-night run is bound to leave audiences in delight. Their collaboration began in 2018 and has played to sold-out audiences in the US and Canada.

With a line-up of classics, musical theatre feats and hits from your favourite pop music icons, there is something for everyone. From Kabalevsky, Mozart and Rodgers and Hammerstein, to Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper and Beyonce, the evening will definitely be thorgeous!

Joining Thorgy will be soprano Midori Marsh—the American-Canadian opera singer who has taken home awards such as CBC’s “30 hot classical musicians under 30”, first prize at the 2023 Quilico awards and much more. She’s performed in productions such as Gianni Schicchi, Mozart’s Requiem, La Traviata, The Magic Flute and Carmen.

Thorgy Thor and the Thorchestra takes place from April 25 – 27th at the National Arts Centre. Performances begin at 8pm. Tickets start at $31 with $15 pricing for under 30 and Indigenous community audiences.
