Ottawa booklovers have an exciting way to celebrate reading as Ottawa’s local indie bookstores plan their third annual Ottawa Indie Bookstore Crawl. From April 25-27, readers can collect stamps when they visit Ottawa’s participating independent bookstores. After collecting stamps from seven of the eight participating stores, one lucky winner will win $200 to spend at Ottawa’s indie bookstores!
“As Canadians continue to look for ways to shop local and shop Canadian, Canadian Independent Bookstore Day and the Ottawa Indie Bookstore Crawl offer a great way to show your support,” said Cole Davidson, co-owner of The Spaniel’s Tale Bookstore.

“The Indie Bookstore Crawl is a great opportunity to visit different shops, explore the communities they’re in, discover some of their neighbouring businesses, and learn more about our city.”—Brad Green, co-owner of World of Maps
New this year, in addition to the grand prize of $200 to spend at Ottawa’s indies, participants will have the chance to win one of eight secondary prizes of $25 to spend at an indie bookstore.

In addition to the Indie Bookstore Crawl, each independent bookstore is hosting their own events, contests, sales, and giveaways to celebrate CIBD.
Launched in 2023 and currently celebrating it’s third year, the Ottawa Indie Bookstore Crawl sees hundreds of people visit Ottawa’s independent bookstores, celebrating reading, books, authors, and community.

Indie bookstores, and the booksellers they employ, are passionate about connecting readers with writers and creating genuine, lasting relationships with their customers. The shops function as pillars of their communities – inclusive spaces for conversation and hubs for dynamic events.
“Ottawa’s indie bookstores are as vibrant and diverse as the communities they serve,” said Brad Green, co-owner of World of Maps. “The Indie Bookstore Crawl is a great opportunity to visit different shops, explore the communities they’re in, discover some of their neighbouring businesses, and learn more about our city.”
