Craft beer and cider from 13 local establishments will be featured at the Ottawa On Tap Beerfest on July 5. Presented by Bells Corners BIA and hosted just down the road from neighbourhood breweries Kichesippi Beer Co. and Whiprsnapr Brewing Co., the beer festival will transform the parking lot of Canadian Tire into a family and dog friendly party.
With food from local favourites Up in Smoke, The Prep Kitchen, SuzyQ Doughnuts, and Nonna’s Famous Pizza, this year’s event also includes non-alcoholic beer and beverages from more than half of the festival participants. We connected with event organizer Lisa Georges by email to learn more about the craft beer festival.
Apt613: What are you most excited about for this year’s Ottawa On Tap Beerfest?
Lisa Georges: The new location and the brewery line-up! This will the first time we pop-up in Bells Corners and we’re looking forward to providing attendees with a super fun experience with 13 of Ottawa’s best breweries and cideries bringing their new and best brews, tasty foods, karaoke, live entertainment featuring Ottawa legend Lucky Ron, and beer fan favourite games like cornhole, pop-up pickleball, and curling (presented by RA Centre). We’re going to transform the Canadian Tire parking lot at 2135 Robertson Road into a party!
Because of its proximity to the Greenbelt, there are walking/running trails around it including the TransCanada Trail which will take you right to the festival site! We encourage people to bike and we will have bike parking available.
We’re seeing more and more festivals popping up in Ottawa’s different neighbourhoods. What can you tell us about Bells Corners?
Bells Corners is unique in that it is surrounded by a green space hence its nickname ‘The Village in the Greenbelt’. And it has so much going for it, from unique local food shops like SuzyQ doughnuts and Prep Kitchen, to local breweries Kichesippi and Whiprsnpar—all of which will be at Ottawa On Tap. There are also a number of hotels and all the usual amenities of an urban landscape.

What kind of non-alcoholic options will be available?
Ottawa’s breweries are producing some high quality NA [non-alcoholic] beers these days. We’re excited to showcase the following non-alcoholic options: Working Lunch (Dominion City Brewing Company), NA Blueberry Blonde (Broadhead Brewery Company), NA Farmer’s Daughter Pale Ale (Whitewater Brewing Company), Non-Alcoholic Bitter (Flora Hall), and Spry Beer, a non-alcoholic sour brewed with hibiscus and lemon zest (Cold Bear Brewing Company). Other non alcoholic options include Hop Water (Whiprsnapr Brewing Co.), City Seltzer, (Dominion City), Fuzzy Bear (Cold Bear Brewing Company), and assorted craft sodas (Big Rig Brewery).
