Don’t miss this year’s Open NCC on Saturday Sept. 14 from 10am-3pm for a behind-the-scenes peek into the day-to-day activities and projects happening in the National Capital Region. The National Capital Commission has planned walking, cycling, and boat tours along with information kiosks and presentations by experts.

The National Capital Commission (NCC) is responsible for many of great initiatives: NCC River House, NCC Weekend Bikedays, Summer Zone, Fall Rhapsody, Public Archaeological Digs, Rideau Canal Skateway, and more. According to their website, the “NCC provides unique value in the Capital Region by fulfilling three specific roles: long-term planner of federal lands, principal steward of nationally significant public places, and creative partner committed to excellence in development and conservation.”
On Sept. 14, there will be free walking tours, presentations, and more at the following sites:
Events will take place in English, French, or bilingually.
Events that require pre-registration include: guided bike tour to preview Westboro Beach, guided bike tour of Confederation Boulevard, boat tour of the Rideau Canal, and a sneak peek of Kìwekì point. Some events are already full.
