The nomination process has now begun for the fourth annual Capital Music Awards (CMAs) presented by the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC). Since 2020, the CMAs have recognized artists, creators, music workers, entrepreneurs, and industry members who contribute to Ottawa’s rich and diverse music sector. With two new categories added, the 2023 CMAs will highlight the return to live events and honour the hardworking folks working behind the scenes in music.
Anyone living in the Ottawa-Gatineau region is eligible to be recognized with an award. However, only OMIC members in good standing are eligible to nominate. This year, music professionals who wish to become OMIC members for the first time can access a promo code via the website at www.ottawamic.com/cma. A group of independent jury members from all over the world will review each category, pick winners for seven categories, and narrow down the top five finalists for the categories that go to the public vote. All winners will be announced during the in-person awards ceremony on June 1 which will be broadcast live on RogersTV Ottawa, Channel 22.
Nominations are open until March 10, 2023, at 11:59 pm ET.
