While the St. Paddyy’s Day parade is a no-go for the fifth year in a row, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate in green in Ottawa this year!

We’ve compiled a short list for all your shamrock ‘n’ rollin’ needs.

March 13
Starting the celebrations early, Irish-American supergroup Cherish the Ladies will take to the stage at Meridian Theatres at 7:30 pm. For almost 40 years, Cherish the Ladies has brought traditional Irish music to audiences worldwide, performing their songs and step dancing with cheer. Tickets are $37.25 and the event is open to all ages.

March 16
St. Patrick’s Day Nacht, 56 ByWard Market Square, from 10 pm-2:30 am – Boasting four-dollar Jagermeister, bagpipes, and green glow, this techno party will have everything you need for a boozy and loud night. Tickets start at just $7.23 and can be reserved on Eventbrite.

Almonte Old Town Hall, 14 Bridge St., from 9:30 am till late – If you’re okay with driving out of the city centre a bit, consider visiting the Almonte Celtfest’s Bonspiel and Ceilidh. The Bonspiel curling tournament starts at 9:30 am. While there is limited space for teams and players, spectators are welcome to come watch and enjoy the cash bar. Doors open at 6 pm for the Ceilidh, with a concert from Broken Bridges at 8 pm. The event will also have a cash bar featuring locally-made beer from Calabogie Brewing Co. Tickets are $25 and open to adults aged 19+. Visit their website to learn more.

The Heart & Crown (all locations) – Celebrating “St. Practice Day,” Heart & Crown is offering wagon rides in the ByWard Market from 12-3 pm near their location at 67 Clarence St. Every location will have live bands during the whole weekend. Both the Aulde Dubliner and Preston locations will have Irish dance performances on the 16th. The dance performances will continue into March 17 in the ByWard and Barrhaven locations. More info can be found here.
