I love living in Centretown. It’s an amazing neighborhood, filled with great businesses, immense diversity and some cool apartments. It’s an important cultural hub for the city. But Centretown is evolving – there are more (and taller) condos going up. There are some new bike lanes going in. There are some new businesses opening and some old ones closing. And there are on-going transit debates that could change the way that people to get to, from and around this part of the city.
Within this context, the city is working through the mid-centretown community design plan, which will provide the vision for how this part of the city will develop. The plan is calling for taller buildings, higher density and new public spaces and improved parks. It is creating some debate on the future of Centretown and, if you’ve got a take on this part of the city, you should add your voice to the mix.
Tonight is the last official chance to comment on the draft plan. The project team is running a consultation from 5:30 to 8:30 at the Museum of Nature with a formal presentation at 6:30. You can download the draft plan online from the project blog at http://midcentretown.wordpress.com.
