Celebrate the bounty of the fall harvest on September 13 with Harvest – A Feast of Fall. The multi-chef food and beverage experience brings together award-winning chefs and artisanal beverage producers while supporting YouTurn Youth Support Services. The event is developed and produced by the same team that put together Taste for Hope for Shepherds of Good Hope, Garden Party for the Ottawa Humane Society and Feast of Fields for Carefor.

If you’ve been to one of the many local farmers’ markets, ventured out to a pumpkin patch, gone adventuring in a corn maze, or tried your hand at picking local apples, you’ll know that Ottawa is rich with local produce. Harvest – A Feast of Fall pairs chefs with local butchers and farmers to create dishes that reflect the bounty of Ottawa’s fall harvest. Tickets get you access to the cocktail-style event being hosted at allsaints events space / Working Title Kitchen in Sandy Hill.

Besides the amazing food and drink, the event is an opportunity to meet and mingle with some of Ottawa’s culinary masterminds, including Chef David Godsoe. An Ottawa native with strong ties to New Brunswick, Chef David Godsoe is a hospitality professional with a deep love for Maritime and French inspired Canadian cuisine. For the past seven years, David has served as the Executive Chef and Culinary Director for the E18hteen Hospitality Group, overseeing E18hteen, Social, Clarendon, Sidedoor, and the Hyde. Reached by email, Chef David provided some insight into the upcoming event.

Apt613: What are you most looking forward to at Harvest?

Chef David Godsoe: What I’m looking forward to most is connecting with some great friends! We all have busy schedules and these events offer a great excuse to get together for a great cause and catch up, try new foods, discuss challenges and successes and engage with the community!

What has the experience of using local fall bounty been like?

Ottawa has a tremendous selection of local farms and producers and the fall is a great showcase of the best this city can produce. Right now garlic is in abundance, mushrooms are booming, root vegetables are in full swing, and we’ve entered into one of my favourite times of year when orchard fruits reach their peak. This time of year is always exciting, it is about putting up the bounty for coming cold months through preservation, fermentation and in some cases freezing. This way we can sprinkle a little love throughout the year.

What local food or drink will you be serving?

At the moment we are looking to do a beef tataki dish, with pickled local mushrooms, black garlic, yuzu ponzu, and a few yet to be decided garnishes.

Anything else Apt613 readers should know?

This year we are supporting a tremendous organization in YouTurn. They help at risk youth in a practical hands-on approach with 24-hour on call services. They help some of our most vulnerable youth and have a proven track record of reducing the risk of reoffending, transitioning clients out of human trafficking, and child welfare services. My team and I at the E18hteen group are thrilled to be a part of this great event!

Harvest – A Feast of Fall takes place on Wednesday, September 13 at allsaints event space / Working Title Kitchen (330 Laurier Avenue East). Tickets are available online and include cocktail style food and drinks. Funds raised support YouTurn Youth Support Services, a non-profit organization, that provides individualized services to our most at-risk youth. If local food and drink, a unique venue, and an awesome cause sound like the ingredients to a delicious night out, you better act fast: the event is likely to sell out if past years are any indication!
