If you’re starting to feel the post-Bluesfest withdrawals, The 27 Club has just the fix for some high octane live music with a triple bill featuring a few well-known locals and the return of an Aussie favourite. And if you were at Bluesfest, you’ve definitely seen the posters for this show all over town.

First up is The Space Between, who’ve been growing quickly in the three years since they’ve formed. Their five-song self-titled EP released in 2023 immediately turned heads, and they’ve since followed that up with a handful of singles, including last year’s “Our Strife,” which was nominated for a Capital Music Award, right up to last May’s “Betrayed,” which shows off their evolution as a band. Hard rock, yes, but there are elements of prog mixed into the arrangements that keep you on your toes, while vocalist Maryn Pegan’s voice soars. Coming off last month’s appearance at the Canadian Music Week, the buzz isn’t stopping anytime soon.

Another band with a blindingly bright future takes over in Cevilain. As we foreshadowed when we chatted with the guys last year, 2025 is a huge year for the group. Capital Music Award Group of the Year nominees, they’ve now made the jump and signed on with a new management team, positioning them perfectly for the release of their new album, which has been in the works for quite a while.

If you’ve kept up with their ‘Sins’ series of singles, they will finally be packaged together into an album (with a few extra tracks as well) that will see the light of day some point this fall. Cevilain was already hitting above their weight in terms of getting notable collaborations, so with a management team behind them, this could be the album that takes them to the next level and beyond.

Given the notable turnout for their last show, headlining at the Brass Monkey, make sure to arrive early if you want to be able to get a good viewing spot tonight!

Speaking of headliners, this evening’s ditches the prog influences you might pick up in the locals’ sets, for one that sits squarely in ’70s classic rock.

The Lazys’ sound feels as well worn in as jeans from that era. That’s not to say it’s a throwback though. While it’s impossible not to make parallels between these Aussie hard rockers with catchy riffs and tongue-in-cheek lyrics to a certain other band that has been keeping fans Thunderstruck for decades, the Lazys are no cover band. Yes, an anthem like “Ripper of a Night” would fit squarely on a Bon Scott era AC/DC album, but frankly, it would be a standout single on it — it’s that good.

As fans await the Lazys’ third album, if the latest single, last month’s “Hot Under The Collar,” is any indication, that fanbase is going to grow exponentially.

Ttonight will mark the third consecutive year they’ve played a show at The 27 Club, which has become a show not to be missed.

The Lazys, Cevilain, The Space Between all play The 27 Club, Thursday, July 24, 2025. Doors open at 7pm, Showtime at 7:30pm. Tickets ($30+fees) available here.
