We may be in the throes of winter, but you wouldn’t know it this Saturday as Ottawa’s hottest art-pop act takes the Fourth Stage at the National Arts Centre.

Fresh off the release of Laff It Off last fall and a string of festival dates across Canada, Pony Girl will be sure to play bangers like the Krautrock-inflected title track or the psychedelic trip-in-a-tune and surprisingly uplifting ode to detachment, “I Believe in Nothing”.

Over the course of a Pony Girl show, clarinet and saxophone regularly rub shoulders with guttural synths and rollicking six strings in a revelatory kaleidoscope of sound, with many innovative and bold sonic surprises along the way. Witnessing this quintet at work live is quite simply a must-have experience.

This is a great chance to hear one of Ottawa’s most exciting acts in such an intimate setting, an band that deserves all the hype.

Pony Girl is performing at the National Arts Centre Fourth Stage (1 Elgin St) at 8pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024. General admission tickets cost $25 online and at the NAC Box Office. The venue is open to all ages. Accessibility note: The Fourth Stage is fully accessible for folks who use mobility devices.
